A low-cost sensor that makes any treadmill smart and will save you a lot of money as you don't need to invest in a high-end treadmill for virtual running.

All you need to do is buy your own hardware (microcontroller and sensor) for as cheap as you can find them on the market e.g. . Estimated total cost around 15 Euro.
